- In order for us at
Puretone to manufacture your in-ear monitors or
ear protection, silicone impressions of the user's
ear need to be taken. It is very important to have
this process carried out correctly, as this determines
the comfort of the final product, and the effectiveness
of the device.
- The taking of impressions
is a simple process that is performed by a trained
and qualified professional. Firstly, the ear needs
to be examined to determine whether the impressions
can be safely taken.
- If all is clear,
a foam block is put into the ear canal to seal the
eardrum. A two-part silicone impression material
is then injected in the ear. This remains in the
ear for about 5-10 minutes while it sets. Once it
has set, the now solid impression is removed, thus
capturing the internal shape of the user's ear.
- Using this impression
we can manufacture custom-made devices that are
an exact match for each user. This ensures the best
comfort when wearing the device, and in the case
of hearing protection plugs, ensures that the maximum
benefit from noise reduction is heard.
- You can get your ear
impressions taken throughout the UK and the rest of
the world, using our database of audiologists. To request
contact details of an audiologist in your area, please
visit our online database - the
Puretone Partnership
Note: When sending
in ear impressions to us, please pack them as securely
as possible to avoid damage in the post, and clearly
note your online order reference, your name and address with your impressions.
This will make it much faster for us to match your order
to your impressions. Turnaround time for most custom-made earpieces is about 7-10 working days. If you have
any questions about our custom-made earpiece services,
please contact us.
Please note that hearing
professionals will charge a fee for ear impressions,
which is not included in the purchase price of any custom-made
product from Puretone.
