Xenon - 3 Channel, 14-Band
Hearing Systems - 3
channels with Speech Management System (SMS),
Microphone Noise Reduction (MNR) and Feedback
Manager. 1 to 3 comfort programs (dependent
upon model), 14 frequency bands (7 adjustable),
WDRC in 3 channels and wide-range AGCo make
these sophisticated instruments extremely
versatile and suitable for most users’ preferences.
Feedback Manager
- Feedback (whistling) is caused by amplified
sound being fed back into the hearing aid
receiver, being amplified again, and being
fed back in again. This phenomenon normally
happens at the resonant frequency of the
auditory canal (about 3 KHz.) The feedback
manager dampens this frequency (and frequencies
adjacent to it) to prevent feedback occurring.
The Xenon VC is a standard
behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing system that
delivers sound into the ear via an earmould.
This device features a type 13 battery,
and is very light at only 3.6g. The Xenon
VC features a user controllable volume control,
and a telecoil switch. Dimensions: 12x8x37mm
The Xenon Plus is a highly
versatile
behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing system that
delivers sound into the ear via an eamould.
This device features a type 13 battery,
and weights only 3.6g. The Xenon Plus has
features that optimise speech intelligibility
and hearing comfort. Dimensions: 12x8x37mm
The Xenon DIR is a behind-the-ear
(BTE) hearing system that features twin
microphones for even greater speech detection
and clarity. This device features a type
13 battery, and is light at only 3.6g. The
Xenon DIR is ideal for mild to severe hearing
losses. Dimensions: 12x8x37mm
The Xenon PP is a high powered
behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing system that
also features a user volume control and
a type 675 battery. The extra output of
this digital hearing system means it is
especially suited for severe hearing losses.
Dimensions: 14x8x46mm.
The Xenon XS is the most
advanced Xenon hearing system, featuring
a program push-button to allow hearing programs
to be changed manually. This device also
features an open-fit eartip, to allow a
more natural and comfortable hearing experience.
Dimensions 17x12x32mm.
The Xenon SM VC is a custom-made
hearing system, manufactured from an exact
impression of the user's ear. Fitting into
the ear canal (ITC), this device offers
improved cosmetics as well as increased
comfort over long durations. Type 10A/13
battery. Dimensions 10x6x18mm (nominal).
The Xenon SM Plus is a custom-made
hearing system, similar to the Xenon SM
VC. Featuring a push-button switch instead
of a volume control, the SM Plus allows
the user to switch between hearing programs
to suit the environment. Type 10A/13 battery.
Dimensions 10x6x18mm (nominal).
The Xenon CIC is the smallest
hearing system in the Xenon range. Custom-made
to fit deep into the ear canal (CIC), the
Xenon CIC is almost invisible in normal
use. Type 10A battery. Dimensions 8x6x15mm
(nominal).
The previous generation of hearing
aids utilised amplification systems based on analogue
electronic technology. These hearing aids simply took
the sounds and noises that they "heard" and
amplified them. That meant amplifying unwanted signals
also. It was possible to apply some limiting factors
to the output sound levels of these hearing aids but
in general, although they were an excellent solution
for the patients, the opportunity to use Digital Signal
Processing was a huge breakthrough.
Digital Signal Processing allows
us, the manufacturer, to do just that:- "process"
the signals that are received by the hearing aid. This
means that we can manipulate the incoming sound, and
transform it into what the user feels most comfortable
with. We can reduce unwanted noise, and concentrate
on providing the user with clearer speech signals.
All Xenon hearing systems are 100%
digital and have advanced features such as feedback
management, speech management and microphone noise reduction,
features not found on analogue hearing systems.
